#41. “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” by Joshua Harris

This was one of those books that you wished you read earlier in life. Any who, this book took me about a year to read. I found myself feeling like Harris was not fit to be giving the advice in this book for some reason. I’m filled with opinions and perspectives on what christian dating looks like from different avenues and resources, aren’t you? And sometimes you just know exactly what they are going to say, (Sometimes its a good thing!).

I did however enjoy the last fourth of the book. Found it uplifting, beneficial, practical and “timely”. I came out of this journey reminiscing about all the “errors” I’ve made in dating, not by the books standards but by my own. Well some were in the book. I hope and pray I don’t return to ancient cycles or ungodly territories. I don’t think “kissing dating goodbye” is an answer, or even Biblical. Yet, I do agree with Josh that dating requires more than just dating.

Lord Jesus,

You know our hearts and desires. We ask that You lead Us. Lead us and direct us. Let us choose wisely with your guidance and show us what we don’t see. Reveal to us Your Heart and Your desire for our lives. Lead your sheep. Sometimes things in our lives blind us, but we ask that You give us confirmation. May we be like Moses who wouldn’t take a step without Your presence. May we live—a life of sincere love, true purity, and purposeful singleness. In Your Powerful Name. Amen.
